Providence Portal

My brother (John) and I spent a productive weekend up at Eucumbene in early May 2011. We usually fish around cemetery point but decided to mix it up this trip and headed to the banks south of Anglers Reach.

Weather was great, but the early morning proved a little challenging with frost patches - when isn't it cold in the morning at Eucumbene?

Saturday morning proved the most successful of the weekend with the bardie grub/powerbait combo working a treat. We had 4 nice rainbows (all around 900g) in the net before 7am - John also lost a beauty close to the shore, snagging and breaking only about 5 meters from the landing net.

We fished for another hour without a bite so headed to the warmth of the cabin.

Sunday morning was milder, but the fish were definitely more allusive. After a couple of unsuccessful strikes I eventually landed a nice 1.2kg nice rainbow (I'll remember to pack the camera next time!).

By 9am we packed up and headed home to the big smoke.

Containing the days till we return.
